It looks like Days of our Lives will be putting fan favorite Salemite Abe Carver (James Reynolds) front and center this May with the return of the character's love, Valerie Grant (Vanessa Williams). DAYS website Jason 47 reports that Williams is back on the Salem scene, with Valerie set to return to the canvas just in time for the upcoming spring sweeps period.
As fans may recall, the actress was dropped to recurring status last winter when Valerie took her dream job of becoming chief of staff at her old hospital in Washington, DC. The move forced Valerie and Abe into a long-distance relationship, which is now being threatened by the presence of Sheila (T-Boz). Is Valerie returning to make sure the world knows that Abe is her man?
Williams took on the role of Valerie in October of 2016, when the cardiologist came back to Salem to help save Abe's life. The former couple rekindled their romance and managed to stay together through several challenges, including Abe's son, Theo, objecting to their relationship, and Valerie's son, Eli Grant (Lamon Archey), learning his mother lied about his paternity. With Valerie leaving town late last year, viewers believed long distance would be the nail in the couple's coffin, but the pair may live to see another day -- if Sheila doesn't manage to sink her claws into Abe before Valerie returns!
